Association

San Casciano Classico” is the association that gathers the wine producers of the municipality of San Casciano Val di Pesa within the wine region of Chianti Classico.
The association was founded officially in 2018, following coutless informal encouters in the previous years, with the will of creating a stable structure of confrontation and collaboration among the members to communicate and emphasize the peculiarities of the territory.
The purpose of the association is in fact that of protecting and promoting the wineries in the municipality of San Casciano VP within the territory of Chianti Classico, united by the history of the territory, and emphazising the geological and climatic peculiarities together with its rural and gastronomic traditions.

Our logo

The logo of the association represents in a stylized shape the two towers of the entering door of the city of San Casciano, inserted in a lance-shaped shape typical of the olive leaf and characterized by the color of the Sangiovese grape, main production of our vines.

The history of the territory

Period of the first traces of Etruscan settlement.

San Casciano earnsthe first civil status becoming Florence bishops’feud.

San Casciano becomes Florence Republic’s administation.

Building of the walls , of the towers and of the formwork of the city, today symbols of San Casciano and present on the logo of the Association.

Exile of Niccolò Macchiavelli in Sant’Andrea in Percussina, in the municipality of San Casciano, where he wrote the famous “The Prince”.

Period in which a high increase of farming and wine production in the area is recorded.

Construction of the railway that connects San Casciano to Florence.

Birth of the consortium for the defense of the typical wine of Chianti and its original branding with home in the municipality of San Casciano VP

Birth of the San Casciano Classico Association.
